Matteo Maffei studied at the University of Venice, Italy, where he received his Laurea in computer science 2002 and his Ph.D. in computer science in 2006.
In the years 2006-2008, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Information Security and Cryptography group at Saarland University. In the years 2008-2009, he was the head of the Language-Based Security group at the Cluster of Excellence "Multimodal Computing and Interaction".
In 2009 he was awarded the Emmy Noether fellowship by the German Research Foundation and he is currently the head of the Language-based Security Group at Saarland University.
